On the last night of my holiday in NY last year, my family decided that after dinner we were going to go up the Empire State Building - at midnight. It was one of the most incredible experiences of the trip, and just something so indescribably amazing that I will keep with me the rest of my life. I had my SLR with me, and I separated from my family and just took it in, only briefly taking some photos and film. The reason this image is so striking to me is that I actually did this on my camera; I filmed this exact shot with the broken lighting and pull focus. I know it looks cliche and its just another picture you’ll see of New York, but it really resonates for me, and I guess just captures what the city was for me - truly alive.
